My progress: http://customgrade.tumblr.com/
Well not right now but you have my word I will. Not just cosplaying some guy with a fancy suit, or a knight in shiny lacquer and pleather armor, not Heavy Arms Custom (one day), or one of the RX’s (for now) but Wing Zero Custom. Now, this is as retarded as some random Battlefield fanboy wanting to be a Fighter Pilot. I’m talking about a Gundam with quite a bit of detail, and wings. BIG. ASS. WINGS. It’s so big it acts as a full-body shield for the Gundam.

Those Wings literally store Beam Sabers, because they're THAT big.
Now, the above is what I’m doing. Along with the beam sabers (no twin buster rifles). I’m doing that, yeah. Well guess what? I have the damn pepakura to make this bastard out of cardstock AND I’m almost done with the head. I’ve taken this thing in knees deep so I can’t go back, I would post my progress here but I’d like to dedicate that blog to mecha cosplay only.
Anyway the link for the progress blog is at the top if you haven’t noticed half an hour ago, but I’m typing as I finish the “ears” and it would be nice to see if you’ll (hopefully) find me at Anime Expo next year with this thing finished and stuck standing for hours. I’m sacrificing my time spent doing other things to get photos taken because I missed getting pictures of mecha cosplayers.
It has died down since I first went to AX, and I want to try making the best cosplay I can to encourage others to do the same. No more box-gundam faggotry, I’m bringing quality gundams (and maybe other mechas) to the table. Because if a procrastinating, inexperienced low-budget cosplay/prop-maker can make a good looking, semi-accurate mecha, then who CAN’T? Seriously, I am procrastinating as, I was meant to be spending this time making the “ears” for the head than type this blog post up. Well, back to work!
Despite being a F2P/Cheap Gamer, there are quite a few fun games, even if you exclude Flash-type* games like Angry Birds. Dragon Nest, and Dungeons of Dredmor, two games (one free, other cheap) are pretty fn and at times, challenging. When DN first came out, I played quite a lot, and despite not being a JP/KR Veteran, I got to Lv.21 in a short amount of time (a week or less after OB came). Despite problems with friends playing on different servers, I still got to pretty high levels (though not cap) on different servers. Why can’t I cap right now?
I’m burnt out, I exhausted all the fun out of the game at the moment. This is seriously what’s been killing me but I can’t help, I can’t be dedicated enough to a game to complete it. This isn’t for single-player games, I can complete those just fine, maybe not 100% unless I’m up for the challenge (and if the game has good replay value). No matter how much I try, I end up suddenly “disappearing” and stop playing. Even worse, I see this happening to me in RPGs, especially. Going back to Dragon Nest, I’m still at the same level I was earlier in the post, and I haven’t leveled much. I will play with friends but otherwise I find it a chore to play. Leveling is very easy, which I like very much but the amount of fun and patience I play on this game runs out faster than your PWR^ when you solo Abyss. This. is. ridiculous.
Maybe this is something I need to get used to, as when I start a new game, and I go “hey, this is pretty fun!” I go overboard with it. Like in Dungeons of Dredmor, one morning I decided to go play that game for an hour, and before I knew it, about 10 hours has passed since I’ve moved my ass from that chair. Same thing happened with DN, playing is a no-go. I can’t last that long, and I’ve even started anew several times with new builds to see if that would make me have fun again. Now that I think of it, it probably IS good to only play games a few hours a day, but as of right now (college classes start later this month) I have about 12 hours of NOTHING.
P.S.: If I had a job, I’d be going overtime as much as possible, since I have nothing better to do but play games. I can’t even get fat so I’d be pre-occupied trying to lose it. As for Anime, I get thirsty when I watch it and I can’t afford drinking a gallon of water a day, the restroom trips are annoying… I’d be one extremely happy man to have controlled comas^^ to sleep until something important/exciting came up.
More, detailed explanation for certain words, phrases, etc. mentioned earlier in this post:
* – Before any misunderstandings, what I mean by Flash-type, is by games you usually see made in Flash. The simple, arcade, casual, and flexible games you can recreate into apps for mobile gaming.
^ – If I remember correctly, soloing Abyss Dungeons completely drains your PWR (Empowerment) within 4 runs. I can barely last 2 now without yawning myself to sleep.
** – I always get pissed off whenever I go Promethean/Golemancy and see that the first room I enter has 8+ monsters chasing me, as Dragon’s Breath sucks ass on the hardest difficulty, magical spinning silverware is not good enough to stop a squad of monsters, and my melee just plain sucks to start off. I also die when going max counter/crit or even melee/ranged hybrid builds half the time due to this and having Lv.2 mobs spawn on the first level/floor.
^^ – Pitiful, isn’t it?

Behold, the S107G Metal R/C Helicopter! Nothing spectacular, but to start off my collection, and officially start my hobby (which will tread painfully slow for now) collecting and flying these machines. I just got it a few hours into the afternoon, which was unexpectedly fast as it was just shipped the day before, with USPS Priority or 2-3 days ground shipment. I guess it was a good thing the site I bought it from (HeliHobby.com) was in the same state.
As it was, excluding the “shipping paper” that was stuffed over it. There isn’t exactly much of a carrying case other than the box itself. It has a handle, which is indeed nice, so I spared it from mindless destruction which happens to whatever barriers my product from me.
But what is this? Rechargable batteries! With a wall charger, of course. Luckily, I ordered the charger, along with 6 NiMH AA-sized batteries to come with my S107G. Now, it was pretty unexpected that the wall charger also came with batteries, but then again I can be quite an idiot. With the controller only needing 6 of these batteries, I’ll be doing quite fine.
Now, I won’t be making a video of flying these things, as I would probably suck with it anyway and that the batteries are charging (they take forever, more than 4 hours to charge) so I’m pretty stuck. I don’t want to use non-rechargable batteries as, well, I find it a waste of money when I have the ones I purchased above.
I did get a little impatient and charged 8 for about 2-4 hours each, and loaded it into the controller and set off (after charging the heli via USB of course, I love that recgharge option) for a bit and found it a very nice and stable helicopter, especially for a beginner. I found myself hovering it above me, as it acted as a nice fan as well. I think overall this helicopter is great for the price, I’d probably do a bit of a more detailed amateur review but I’d like to get more flight time and do some other tests (like crash, but nothing intense or intentional) and see if it will even last a few weeks of daily flights.
One thing bugged me about the helicopter though:

Oh man, if this kept my heli on the ground I'd be one angry...
Do you see that? Look at the screw in the center of the picture, yeah that. It’s loose, and guess what? I can’t even tighten it, or screw it in the hole it was meant to be fastened to. Luckily it didn’t screw up my helicopter, when I used it, and I’m going to see what I can do about this. I’ve tried switching the screws to see if it was part of the chasis (I think that’s what its called) but it seems the screw itself is just bad. So, I’m sure if that can get replaced I’ll be fine, and won’t need to send it in to get replaced and have to wait awhile to get my beloved heli back.
Other than that though, I’m pretty happy with my purchase. The processing when I bought it on HeliHobby kind of concerned me, especially when I found it (a couple days later) out of stock on the product page, and found mine still not shipped yet. Luckily customer support was quick to deal with this and send it the next day, and the shipping only took one day as well so it was well worth the delay and ahead of estimated delivery anyway!
So props to them, and tomorrow I’ll need to start getting good at flying to avoid incoming projectiles as it is inevitable that my niece will want to play with (and break) it.
